This post is dedicated to some of the exhibition pieces that were unveiled at the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute earlier this week. The Met will be hosting an Alexander McQueen exhibition entitled Savage Beauty that will be launched on May 2, which also happens to be the date of this year's Met Ball.
From what I've read, the idea belonged mainly to Anna Wintour. Stella McCartney, Sarah Burton, Thomas Campbell (director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art) and Andrew Bolton (Costume Institute's curator) joined Anna Wintour at the unveiling. The exhibition will be open for the public starting with May 4.
There also is a book entitled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, that will be released on the April 30.
Many, many photos included so do click on the link below to feast your eyes.
P.S. I simply love the mannequins that were chosen. They make such a great effect against the garments. This is McQueen, pure art.
