A while ago I was presenting the preview of Vika Gazinskaya's S/S 2011 collection. As expected, the rest of the collection is equally cool, if not even more so. You see, Vika has this type of cool in her aesthetic that makes her collections breathe outside of the trend territory. Most often, I see that what she does is somehow timeless. Those graphic lines, clean design and overall volume mixes make the looks stand out. I especially love to see all these in action in this vid. Do watch it for some extra scenes with Vika and the models pre-show!
It has become clearer with this collection that Vika has her own alphabet which she constructs and reconstructs by choice. The greens and purples mix into the spring/summer theme, as well as those ethereal beiges. After seeing the show, I still stand by my opinion that the way Vika handles volume is exceptional. Most of the time, the most voluminous parts are those you wouldn't expect. Structured silhouettes and clean lines are what we can expect from her, as well as minimalist statement pieces. Just look at those long and slightly large blazers or those jumpsuits with deep necklines.
