It's Copenhagen, baby!

It can be tricky to blog about fashion when it's not Fashion Week time. Did I say tricky? It's rather repetitive. Or maybe I'm just an adrenaline addict, haha. Seriously, things happen so fast that time of year! Everyone goes crazy about all shows, this and that, look here, no: over there, did you see that? It's mind-blowing. Not yet September, but close enough. I can almost feel the insane amount of anticipation raising its level when thinking about it. Bwuf.
So let's step aside from AW09 and go to the following SS10. Here we have Copenhagen Fashion Week which is the now event. It has clearly managed to raise it's level and grow up nice. Just look at the site running. It's comparabla to style, at an amateur level, sorry, yet very-very well realised and up-to-date. Clearly a thumbs up for that.
Browsing through it (and there's lots of new things to discover each time) I've put together some of the best SS 10 pieces... there's a variety of styles to pick from, really. And we do have to peek into what 2010 will have to offer. First off, Boss Orange SS10. There's something to fit any taste. From long jeans as evening wear (so 5 years ago though), to short-shorts or jackets going through modern florals:

Strangely enough these very much remind me of the rock-chic attitude. Much more versatile than what is usually expected from such an approach, and even pushing the envelope a bit on the romantic side. And another thing: that might not be the most innovative pair of trousers ever, but when worn with sneakers they add an unexpected edge to the entire ensemble...

At BZR SS10 it was all about the hairdo. Tell me, what else could be done with such outfits than make them look sport-chic? Hmmm?
Note: achromatic mini skirts + cool ponytail = fun atittude

Oh, yes: Designers Remix Collection. I was thrilled when I got a pair of jeans from this brand. Charlotte Eskildsen promotes a both feminine and androgynous approach which is quite obvious in her collections. Statement pieces come in simple shapes:

And I've saved the best for last. On my Copenhagen list also stands Elise Gug. She won my heart by creating simple but not plain dresses. Elegant but not too sophisticated. Elaborated but subtle. Her designs remind me of what Jackie Kennedy or Audrey Hepburn wore. In one word: timeless.

And in conclusion, not that I would suggest anything but... WRITTEN PROOF SUMMER DOES COME IN SEPTEMBER:

It will be so worth the wait...

Writing thoughts with strawberry jam should be compulsory

I read something the other day that semi-puzzled me: "I'm of the belief that if you do good things, if you're a kind, interesting person, at the end of the day all the right people will know." (source & an exceptional street style blog: I browsed it untill my index finger hurt). So, should one be a quiet achiever or just brag even before got started something? At first, I thought quiet achieving might be a contradiction in terms. It's a-ok to be happy with oneself and keep all the cool facts for yourself. My only dilemma is what happens if somebody else could have a useful input if they knew about it? An input could be a collaboration, a feature with mutual benefits, a buyer, a client etc. depending on the type of activity. Then what?
Oh well. Just one thing I'm sure about when it comes to writing, promotion or even choosing something, anything: most of the time, people are bad at predicting what they would like. Yes.

P.S. Wish I invented that heater above, haha.

Summerproof

On hot days like this one, I rarely have energy to do anything else than sit indoors and obsess about online street style journals. Crazy. After all this time, I'm still amazed by how much influence ordinary people in the street can have upon the way one perceives style.
I would be grateful if somebody just poured cold water on me every half an hour or so. I mean it.

P.S. The hat pictured above is the same one that I wore here.
A smaller summer hat and more considerations on the subject, here.

Interviewing Theo Adams

Hey, a little bit of shameless self-promotion didn't hurt anyone. But if you don't mention it, who else will, right? So, here is another work I've done as a contributor for prim. Magazine. This time I've put up an interview for Theo Adams. He's an interesting character, isn't he? Extra points for being able to put his message out there to so many people.
I like asking questions. I like to hear the answers even more. An interview is the easiest way to discover what goes on in someone's mind. Not to mention, words won't fly away after they were spoken. And often, the answers are not those one expects... read, read (pages 20-25):

Extra! My Rad Hourani interview, also for prim. Magazine.

The Best Things In Life Are Free

Hey, I'm back! And with lots of things to upload here. Lots of photos, some recent stuff I've been up to and we could go on and on. I'm working on those. Anyway, this is what I had on today on a city stroll. You couldn't tell, now could you? The hat is from my grandma, got it yesterday. I just replaced the old ribbon with a couple of new ones, in different colors. Even though it might have been better to just leave it without anything on top. Oh well. Worn with graphic dog tee, as I like to call it, cut-offs, converse and a random tote. Later!

Daiane
