B&W Goodies Come To Those Who Wait

Black and white photos from yesterday. Complete event description was posted earlier today. Also, translated version can be found here. Some of these are small previews of what is still left to show you. But I'll get to that tomorrow. Isn't this all much better than any other fashion editorial on the planet? Oh yes.

Graduate's Gala: Fashion Shows (Part I)

Last evening I attended the Graduate's Gala of the fashion design students from the University of Art and Design. I wrote a post about the vernissage that took place last week, check it out here, it was fun!

But yesterday it was all about fashion and 34 collections were presented. 32 of them belong to this year's graduates and 2 collections belong the fashion designers Alina Botea and Andra Clitan, former UAD graduates. Special guests to the show were Doina Levinta, Ovidiu Buta, Alin Galatescu, and Adriana Tudorache.

I only managed to take, like, 600 photos before my camera ran out of battery. So I only have photos from the first part of the show. Sigh. It was a delightful evening and I must admit, when I couldn't take photos anymore I could enjoy even more the presentations, hehe.

Ok, so photos from the collections I did manage to snap photos. In the order they appeared in the show. Tried to take representative photos, and in some cases I've put up some collages of a few of the outfits I liked best. Enjoy!
First off, pictures of "London Rain", collection created by Alina Botea:

Ana Maria Bota presented a collection for children. They were all dressed in white and cuter than words. Of course, as I later saw in other presentations too, the children were hard to convice to face the public and not the gigantic screen at the other end of the stage:

Laura Popoviciu, "Follie Jollie, Jollie Follie", the winning collection at Espoir Mode:

Next on, Teodora Baciu, "Seria zero". I loved it, the shapes and cuts were extraordinary, including one white cocoon outfit. But the best were some dresses:

I've decided to break this into two or three posts as there are too many beautiful photos still left to show you. Some few hundred left to sort, haha. So, stay tuned, it will be continued...

Update: translated article with some gorgeous B&W photos on RFB! I'll be posting more of the B&W series here too, of course.

Almost Every Rain Drop Knows I'm Waiting For A Lighter Mood

Mario Testino shot this beautiful editorial entitled City of Dreams. It's from the American Vogue July issue. The story revolves around two aspiring actresses and their life in New York. I like it that they are playing it pretty casual most of time. And look awesome even wearing sneakers, hoodies or sporting a pink wig. It should have been fun playing these parts.

And surely, to top these photos, let's focus a bit upon real-life fashion. These here are outfits from the Moschino Resort 2010 collection. Feminine, simple and pretty. I'm in love with those bags, clutches and shoesies.
Dark colored outfits built around trousers. Slim fit lines and sky-high heels:

Pastel colored, pyjama-style trousers. No one can say no to a pair of these when it's very hot outside, the last thing we need are tight-fitting clothes. A huge plus for the bows and prints:

Dresses couldn't have been forgotten. So here is the dark colored selection, hello cuteness:

A lighter approach, more pastels, loose-fitting and beautifully accessorised. These are so elegant and fit for any fancy event. Side note: clutch or huge bag, either one is an option:

I'm not in the best state of mind today and figured these might cheer me up. Don't know though...

Step I: Recent Works; Step II: Super Spy.

It's been a while since I've featured anything I've made. But! The last couple of days I've been fooling around making images like these ones. The first one I've put up made it to header and background status, as you may have noticed. So without further ado, these are some I like the best. I used free textures found on the web and some of my older pictures and voilà ! Enjoy.

The hardest part wasn't to edit the photos together, but to find the perfect match between them...

doodle |ˈdoōdl| *__* I Wish I Were There, I Really Do

I can't believe I've never thought about this before. A huge, DIY shared project. Inspiration galore! If you are reading this from London, consider yourself a lucky one: you're in the same city the doodle bar is in. Side note: how cool is to kick out all caps in writing the name? Very.

From the About section: "White washed from top to bottom and with a specially commissioned doodle mural of the river Thames flowing across the walls, the Doodle Bar invites everyone to doodle on the walls, tables, chairs and even the waiters. The doodlebar aims to create a vision of the imagined city - a collage of doodler's hopes and fears."

And if that wasn't enough, it seems fashion designer Vivienne Westwood is/will be holding monthly film screenings. She was ahead of her times back in the day, she still rocks big time.

The Doodle Bar also organises workshops and hosts the DoodlEarth exhibition, "an interactive art installation formed by creative film makers, Squint Opera and award winning illustrator Serge Seidlitz."

Right now, tears are flooding just by reading this piece of info. (Partly) kidding, haha. Seriously, it must be great and inspirational to be part of an event like this. So! Photos to cheer me up from the doodle bar's flickr photostream:

Just thinking that anything is there (yes, including the waiters) is doodle-able and my fingers are itching.

"Summer's Not Here, She Went Outside, May I Take Your Message?"

All photos by Guillaume Lechat. He's a 26 years old fashion photographer from Paris. He now works in Los Angeles and Australia. It shows a bit, right? I think most of his works are so summery! I feel a bit more relaxed just by staring at them on the screen. Check out his site aaaand The Diary. Very-very inspirational.
