We're Leaving Terra Firma

I found this set of pictures over at photographer Susanne Stemer. I think this set of photos is the most elegantly version of Alice in Wonderland I've ever seen. Done for WIENERIN lifestyle magazine. Just because it's a children's story, it doesn't have to be all pink candy and frou-frous all over the place. That scenes are so overdone it's sickening. What Susanne has come up with is polished and wonderful. See her behind scenes, she seems to have/be so much fun! Also, you should know her speciality is underwater photograghy. Amazing. Go check it all out.

let's see, I'll make you RESORT to this

It's not new that resort collections got an entire life of their own by now. Even in such complicated economic circumstances designers manage to keep themselves on track. Somehow. I say somehow because, oh well, it was hard to let myself convinced by at least one collection. One that I could get something out of it... Bottega Veneta resort 2010.

Not the most representative outfits, but hey, how cool is to put forward (faux? I hope) leather items:

The Bottega Veneta resort looks more... complete as many of other collections out there. Most collections have a pre- air to them. You know, as those pre-fall collections, ten pieces which seem just thrown together randomly and when the real Fall collection debuts the runway it's the biggest difference. Funny, these sure do resemble Fall gear:

AND YES, YAY... CANDY:

A very put together, coherent and grown-up collection. For resort. And I can't omit saying most collections would be amazing if a bit of effort would have been put into the presentation part. Blank studio decors are fine, but why choose a weird looking (if not annoyed) model with strange, robotic poses. It scares me off. I can't even take a better second look at the clothes which are the purpose. Sighs.

I Interviewed Rad Hourani!

I'm still a bit ecstatic while writing this, but fact is I've put up an interview for prim. Magazine. For Rad Hourani. Asked some stuff about him and his work, just what I was curious to know. Rad Hourani's concept about fashion is unique, and he has a strong vision about his work. Read issue June/July -> here, pages 18-21.

Some things I was dying to find out:
How did video directing influence the way he creates a collection?
Will black be always the new black?
What key elements should the ideal wardrobe include?
Click on the photo below to see the entire interview...

Also, check out the last time I wrote for prim.

Behind The Scenes

Here's how it goes: three things have summed up in this post.
1. Intense studying let me to the Met site. Whoaha. Particularly, to the most interesting part of it... Tiffany's:

After finishing up sighing, I read:
Hair ornament , ca. 1904
Louis Comfort Tiffany (1848–1933)
American
Platinum, enamel, black and pink opals, demantoid garnets, H. 3 1/4 in. (8.3 cm)

Imagine how extravagant something like this looks in one's hair. Aah.

2. Remembered something I read yesterday:
Dwight:
What is my perfect crime? I break into Tiffany's at midnight. Do I go for the vault? No, I go for the chandelier. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting: I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris, by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years; she's never taken another lover. I don't care, I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the chandelier.

3. Off for the evening. I thought this was fun, it's from my downloads:

You Made It, You Wear It

above: Marc Jacobs by Craig McDean

above: Jason Wu by Craig McDean

above: Alexander Wang by Craig McDean

These three photos are just some of the 21 photo set  from the shoot of photographer Craig McDean at Milk Studios for the CFDA journal.

The story started when CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) president Diane von Furstenberg asked creative director Trey Laird to "Capture fashion — do something fabulous." So, Laird decided to ask the designers wear their own creations. Cool, right? International award winner Marc Jacobs, sported his ever appreciated bunny ears headpiece. Must appreciate that. He will be honored for his work for Louis Vuitton.

This year’s CFDA awards are scheduled for June 15. See all the nominees here. More than the event itself, I can't wait to see the rest of the photos with designers wearing their own creations. Mmm - eye candy ahead!

T(r)ickets to Wonderland

Morning! I just woke up to this colorful editorial which put me in the happiest of moods!

Magazine: Numéro Tokyo (July/August 2009)
Editorial: Solo Dance
Photographer: Hans Feurer
Model: Tanya Dziahileva
source & rest of the photos: maimon@tfs

And on top of all that, I'm listening to the new album of Patrick Wolf:

If you didn't listen to any of his songs, you have no idea what you've missed. Plus! He has an amazing (if weird) sense of fashion. Now would you please excuse me while I picture myself in wonderland, while listening to good music, as told. xo

Cheerleading

This photo is lying, today I ate cherries. Can you believe its June already? Although you couldn't tell for sure if you knew what's going on outside. It's raining and it's so chilly. I will be a bit busy the next period as I'll be studying. So if I accidentally start posting pictures with Art Nouveau buildings you'll know why. I refrained myself in the last second today. That or I'll be moving to Hogwarts. Then again, I might be posting just as usual? We'll see.

Sweet treats,
Daiane
