Let It Be... Butterscotch Ripple

Finally I can join the weekend fun & relaxation. Today I hopefully got rid of the last school work that had to be done. And this is what I wore. I know, it's Saturday, but what day could be greater to jump up and down with joy.
Last time I took an outfit picture with this blouse. Haha, totally. Only now you can see how it is designed around the sleeves, it feels so great wearing it! Of course, don't forget about the watch.

No idea how can it be so warm outside, I could lie myself in believing spring is here, if I didn't know we just hit February.
That being said, excuse me while I go entertain myself doodling. It's that easy. And surely, some words of wisdom for the time being:
“Invention, my dear friends, is 93% perspiration, 6% electricity, 4% evaporation, and 2% butterscotch ripple.”

Gene Wilder, Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Hehe! You can't deny you love that movie too!

Blobs Of Neon And Paranoia Starts

Seeing these photos from the Vogue Light & Fantastic editorial over at The Kingdom Of Style had me totally smitten. I've never, like never-ever seen neon so beautifully done. I was used to neon being quite aggresive by the use of over saturated colors.
But here, everything looks just like it got off the cupcake bandwagon. Really, it's so... delicate. Delicate looking neon? I didn't think these two words could possibly be used in the same sentence.
Surely, one piece I can't overlook is the swimcap. Also, done in a soft pink neon looking strikingly familiar to a bunch of crowded butterflies. Eye. candy.

Hand Over The Front Key, Let's Go Home

Because I posted about Chanel Haute Couture 2009 I thought it would be nice to give some credit to the decor that was used, too. Quite some work was put into the paper tiaras, but clearly no effort was too big to make lawish monochromatic arrangements, too. I have to say that beyond the use of B&W only, the collection was anything but minimalistic.

Some numbers: the paper roses, daises and leaves were wrapped around the 32 columns of the Cambon-Capucines pavilion. All in all, around 7000 (!) handmade paper flowers. 4000 sqm of paper were used to put up these beauties. So, if you know me, I'm sure you know I have a big soft spot for DIY activities, but something like this, for a couture show is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Also, should I tell you I keep some shoe boxes full of paper foldings done at an origami class some years back? I would feel sorry if I would decide to throw them away. I wonder, what on earth happened with those Chanel paper roses after the show? It would have been nice if they would given them to kids in the streets to play with them.

Other than that, what I appreciate more than the sole fact of so many handmade items, is that the entire show kept on a decent budget. Well, it depends on the type of paper that was used, but...? For a couture show, anyway.

Tag, Double Tag

Two lovely girls, Carola and Andra have tagged me. Sorry for the delay, but hey, better late than never. Here are the two tags.

From Andra it is The Lemonade Award:

1.Grab the closest book.
I stretched my arm to get this:
2.Open it to page 123
...
3.Find the 5th sentence and read it:
The ever-changing mood swings of fashion.
4.Do not dear find a more intellectual book!

There you have it. Just so you know, the sentence is part of an interview with Suzanne Clements &Inacio Ribeiro.

Off to Carola's tag...

Describe your personal style.
It's more on the casual side, I suppose, even though I recently started shifting towards skirts and dresses. Oh, yes. Every now&then, when an appropriate occassion comes up. What I always have is a splash of color, often purple, but blue and pink hues are also an option. I'd like to look like this every day:

What's your signature look?
I hate saying that when I have crazy, long days ahead I go for the lazy-jeans option. For the wannabe daily look, see above. I'm trying.

What inspires you?
Good writing, photography, tunes, people, a moment, a wish, eyes, a color...

Who is your fashion muse?
Don't have a specific one. Just parts from the styles of many, many people out there.

Favourite purchase of all time?
Judging by how much they were worn, the purple oxfords in the first photo.

Biggest splurge?
Really, I can't recall anything right now to be way-too-over-the-top expensive.

What's your beauty routine?
Water, soap and Lush products. More on those here.

What jewellery do you never take off?
I usually take it all off when I get home. Although sometimes I keep this ring a while longer...

What are your obsessions?
Oh dear, they change in a blink, it's quite noticeable if you look through the posts. What remain are the best parts which usually get filed under Inspiration, hehe. Subject to regular fluctuations, anyway.

EDIT: Also, thank you again Carola for this award, too!

I will virtually share it with all the blogs in the blogroll. Love spreading assured! xo

Ideal

Whoops, a short & unintended blog hiatus. But! Look what a wonderful thing happened in the meantime. My articles are in Ideal Mariaj, yay! [If you want to, take a look back at the debut.]
The theme this time was the vintage wedding. What a delight! Roxana Radu did a wonderful job, yet again. Thank you for everything!
And even if you're not a bride-to-be, you are so definitely sure to stare at all the wonderful shots inside the magazine.

Dark: Make A Wish

Alexandra Groover's collections are mind blowing because of their extreme versatility. Really simple lines giving a multitude of choices to style the final garment. Mostly done in black, with some white pieces here and there. I love the minimalism of them all...
Favourite: ephyrae dress, part of grey label 3:
Also, the grey label trapeze jacket:
I find that this particular ending of the shell skirt dress is unexpected and makes the shape stand out. Pure white does the rest of the magic:
Make sure you go check all the pieces on the site, you'll find even more weel constructed pieces... see the shell hooded dress...

My Penguin Day

Suprise, surprise! Didn't wear this coat in two months but felt like ages. Today I found on it this brooch I got at a random fair in December. Actually, it was not that random, since it was all about handmade and promoting freelancers doing great work. Back then I remember also getting some decorations to put in the Christmas tree. Looking like gingerbread, they were decorated with real candy. Glued on one of the sides. Insane, yet so amazingly cute! And this brooch is so fun, also! I keep calling it penguin, because for some weird reason, even though it must be a dolphin, I keep forgetting that. Haha.
On a different note, today I've been listening to Kings of Leon o.n. r.e.p.e.a.t. Their liiiive singing is so, so good. Charmer:

And, ta-dah, what I have on are these jeans.

Daiane
