Hussein Chalayan

This here is an interview filmed by Dezeen for the Design Museum’s Super Contemporary exhibition. Hussein Chalayan talks about how London influences his work, the difference in how problems are approached. He even calls it the New York of Europe. I think this is more than correct, taking into account just how much London influences style and culture. As Chalayan goes on in saying, life and culture got closer and closer, aesthetically speaking. True that.

Following his thoughts, I've found myself wishing I had lived (with my mind as I have it today) just a few days back when the 90s started. Could anyone see, let aside understand that everything was starting? I think it would have been magical. Unfortunately, Chalayan is right when he is stating we have too many designers nowadays. I wish I wouldn't agree, but I do.

He also talks about the mixed history in his background, how (geographical) proximity to Turkey was an influence. Aslo, how emigrations are evident in London, because they happened recently, are were not disolved by time... I will stop now. Watch the video, it will worth your while.

Sweet treats,
Daiane
