Rethinking The Hat

alexander mcqueen FW08

There's nothing, I mean nothing as the infinite possibilities to cover your head in winter, be it a simple hat or a slouchy beanie. I noticed on the street the other day a nice and practical combo. A lady was wearing a knitted collar on her head, something similar to a hat but easier to control and give it the shape you want. And, of course, a matching pair of fingerless gloves. Simple details like this make one stand out from the crowd. I don't really appreiated fingerless gloves without a detachable cover because I get cold pretty fast. But they look totally rad, I must admit.
So why choose between a collar, a hat or a hood, when you can have it all in one? See the photo above. One of the most important associations to keep in mind all the time, regardless of seasons is light&hard. I mean flower patterns and black knits. Princess skirts and grandpa's cardigan. Ruffles and studded boots. Lace and jeans. Make it a personal game of transparencies & shadows.

Sweet treats,
Daiane

  1. You're writing is inspirational :) I just feel the urge to start digging for my scarfs and huge knitted sweaters.
Besides that, I am head over heels on McQueen lately...
