It's The Nature Of Things

Culturing colored hexagons in polyester resin? Sure, if you have the right background. This is Mctega. Behind this name stand Kristina Ortega and Sarah McLellan. They were both doing pre-med and microbiology majors. Shifting to fashion mid-way through college seems to have been a good idea. They met while interning at Rodarte. Wow.
The presentation page reads: Mctega is a collaboration between scientists. Using mass production techniques of industrial chemistry on a much smaller scale, they are creating one of a kind pieces out of materials known for their ubiquity.
Inspirational, statement pieces of jewellery because these are up on the trend wave right now. And I can't say I disagree. Most of all if they have a certain story attached. They stand as powerful, unique pieces all by themselves, so garments can easily move one level to the back on the apperance scale. Why not?
