Paris: Yamamoto & Dior

Yohji Yamamoto's show at Paris yesterday really got me intrigued. It seems that his recent decision to collaborate with Hermes on leather bags brought even more interest in manipulating leather. There were leather jackets not only in black but also in orange and blue, with unfinished raw edges, that were paired with wool & jersey. Also, tweed was paired with the long & full skirts so typical to Yamamoto. On some of them were added extra rolls of fabric at the waistband. These are my picks:


And on to Christian Dior... what came to my mind was the phrase: Toto, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore. Big hairdos & eye makeup, worn with ladylike suits and dresses. John Galliano called this "optimism and opulence" of the sixties: bright color and paillette embroidery:
