Family affair

These days I seem like having on my mind a certain pearl choker. You can see it in the last photo of this post. Anyway, I do have a thing for old, vintage pieces. And not only in clothes, but also in accessories. It's like they store little pieces of time and bring them back to present when being worn. This is how I explain the special feeling they give me.

The reason I'm saying this is because these pearls were actually my grandmother's. She wore them to her wedding. Imagine that! And she kept them for years, then gave them to my mother which ultimately passed them on to me. So I have been having these pearls laying around the house since forever and I've become quite attached to them. But I'm trying to picture my grandma as a bride, never thinking that, one day, the pearls will be styled by her grand-daughter in an outfit like this one:

I think it's wearable as long as you don't push the limits too far. I just replaced a casual necklace with a pearl choker. As you may have noticed by now, I love mixing completely different items in my closet. Combinations not only in prints and colors, but also in their style. Contrasts. Not wearing them in the proper way. That's why I'm satisfied with the result. Family heritage.

Sweet treats,
Daiane

  1. Its really a sweet token of family heritage and a bond with your predecessors. And plus, in my mind, I think every girl should own at least one strand of pearls.
